In other contexts, a .HIR file functions as a Guitar Cabinet Impulse Response for the Line 6 Helix ecosystem. These files contain acoustic cabinet models formatted internally as JSON data. More rarely, it serves as an Electron Beam Lithography Pattern for Raith hardware (via the Raith 150 Two software) or as a binary game object hierarchy file used by Electronic Arts (EA).
The major disadvantage of the .HIR format is its proprietary obfuscation. If you attempt to open an IROAD .HIR file natively on Windows or macOS, the operating system will fail. Standard image viewers, web browsers, and media players cannot parse the custom file header. This requires users to download clunky, specialized dashcam software just to view a simple snapshot.
