Extract text from HID files

To convert other file formats to the "Obfuscated Media Container" file type, you need software like Hide It Pro or a similar tool.
The .HID extension represents a split in file utility, creating significant confusion for users. The majority (60%+) are Hidden Media Vault files created by privacy applications like Hide It Pro (often disguised as "Audio Manager"). These files are standard images or videos that have been obfuscated - either by simple renaming or header encryption - to prevent them from appearing in your device's gallery. The primary disadvantage is that these files are completely inaccessible if the host application is uninstalled or the database is corrupted, locking users out of their personal memories. To recover these, the file header often needs to be stripped or the extension renamed to JPG or MP4.
A secondary but critical use (17%) is in genetic research, where .HID serves as a Genetic Fragment Analysis file generated by GeneMapper software from Thermo Fisher Scientific. These files contain complex DNA sizing and genotyping data. The constraint here is strict proprietary lock-in; without the specific licensed software, the data is unreadable. For scientific collaboration or archiving, these should be converted to CSV, TXT, or XLSX formats to ensure data remains accessible in standard tools like Microsoft Excel without requiring specialized dongles or licenses.
