About THU files
A .THU file is primarily a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera thumbnail image. These files are automatically generated by camera firmware to quickly display low-resolution image previews on the hardware LCD screen. In other contexts, the extension is used for game map thumbnails in Command & Conquer 3 or as Adobe ImageReady thumbnail cache files. The main disadvantage of .THU files is that modern operating systems do not natively associate this extension with standard image viewers. Users often encounter these files when recovering lost data from a corrupted SD card, mistaking them for the original high-resolution photographs. However, these are strictly low-resolution previews and do not contain the original image data. Because the internal structure of a .THU file is typically just a renamed JPG or PNG, standard online converters may reject the unrecognized extension outright. We can inspect the binary file headers, bypass the obscure extension name, and extract the underlying standard raster image format so you can save it as a highly compatible JPG or PNG file.
Convert.Guru analyzes your THU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted GRAY, VD and JPG_128X96 files.
