About VD files
The .vd file extension is a fragmented format primarily associated with obfuscated JFIF (JPEG) image files, PLC Variable Data files for IDEC WindLDR, and battle result data files from World of Warships.
When functioning as a PLC Variable Data file, it stores logic states and variable registers for programmable logic controllers. These files are highly proprietary and strictly require the IDEC WindLDR environment to open or compile. Users often need to convert these to CSV or TXT to analyze variable states outside the native IDEC ecosystem without paying for expensive software licenses. World of Warships .vd files contain encoded telemetry and battle statistics. They are closed binary files designed to prevent tampering and cannot be opened by standard text editors or media players.
Because these are closed, proprietary formats, standard online converters usually fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as a misnamed JPEG - viewing or conversion may still be seamlessly possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted MP4, THUMB5, THU and GRAY files.

The VD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VD converter.
