The .HDA extension serves multiple distinct proprietary functions, creating compatibility challenges for users without the original software. Most commonly (approx. 69%), it is a Hofmann Digital Album project file used to design photo books. These files act as containers for page layouts, captions, and image references, locking your memories into a vendor-specific format that requires the Hofmann client to view or print. They are not standard image files, meaning you cannot share them via email or open them in web browsers. To archive these projects or share drafts, users typically need to convert the layout to PDF or extract the raster content to JPG.
