The .GWP file extension primarily functions as a proprietary layout template or project file. Its common applications include Property Management Document Templates for real estate databases, legacy Greeting Card Project files, and Electrical System Design Projects. These files are highly specialized and typically created by niche or obsolete software, including Console Gateway, Microsoft Greetings Workshop, Broderbund Greeting Card Factory, or GEWISS GWoffice. The .GWP format is heavily fragmented and severely restricted. It is a closed, proprietary format that lacks native support in modern web browsers or standard office suites. Legacy greeting card variants often rely on the aging Microsoft Compound format, locking user data behind obsolete software dependencies. Users face significant disadvantages, as they are forced to maintain outdated operating systems or pay for specific property management subscriptions just to access their content. To ensure reliable sharing and long-term archiving, users must convert .GWP files to universal formats like PDF for documents or JPG for graphics.
