About GSHEET files

A .gsheet file is a local shortcut generated by Google Drive to represent a cloud-based spreadsheet on your local hard drive. When you double-click it, it launches your default web browser and opens the corresponding document in Google Sheets.

The primary disadvantage of this format is that it does not contain any actual spreadsheet cells, formulas, or data. Instead, it is a proprietary, lightweight JSON text file that only stores a document ID and a web URL. This means you cannot open it offline. Emailing a .gsheet file to a colleague is completely useless, as they will only receive a dead link rather than the expected data. It restricts you entirely to an active internet connection and a Google account.

To share your data effectively, you must convert or export the cloud document into standard target formats like XLSX (Microsoft Excel), CSV (Comma Separated Values), or PDF.

Because the actual data lives exclusively on Google's servers, this file format is difficult to open or convert locally. A standard offline converter cannot process it because the data simply is not there.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GSHEET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GSH, XLSX, GDOC, PDF, GS, XLS, CSV, P7S, ENC, VTT, CRDOWNLOAD and CRX files.
