About GRAPH files
The .graph file extension is a highly fragmented format used to store node and edge data for network structures, flowcharts, or spatial analysis. Because graph is a generic term, this extension is claimed by dozens of distinct applications. Common uses include diagrams.net for flowcharts, NetworkX for serialized Python graph objects, Graphviz for directed graphs, and Protégé for ontology layouts. Under the hood, a .graph file might be saved as plain text, XML, JSON, or even a binary Python pickle. The biggest disadvantage of a .graph file is its lack of standardization. You cannot simply double-click it and expect a default viewer to open it correctly. If you receive a .graph file from a Python developer, it requires a specific environment to deserialize. If it is from a diagnostic tool like a Snap-on scanner or a game engine, it is proprietary and locked to that software. Many .graph files are not supported by standard web browsers or document viewers. To share these files, you must convert them. For web publishing or embedding in documents, convert visual graphs to PNG or SVG. For archiving or sharing with non-technical users, convert to PDF. If you need to extract the raw node-edge data for further analysis, converting to standard JSON or CSV is highly recommended.
