About YGF files

The .YGF file is a proprietary diagram format created by yEd Graph Editor, a desktop application developed by yWorks. It is used to store flowcharts, network diagrams, and UML models. Because .YGF is a closed format, it has severe disadvantages. It cannot be opened by standard web browsers or other diagramming tools like Microsoft Visio or Draw.io. This locks your data into a specific software ecosystem. To share your diagrams with clients or colleagues, you must convert the .YGF file. The best conversion targets are GRAPHML for continued editing, or standard vector and raster formats like SVG, PDF, and PNG for viewing. Standard online converters fail to process .YGF files because the format structure is undocumented and heavily tied to the original Java environment.
