To convert other file formats to the "Group Policy Configuration" file type, you need software like Citrix Workspace or a similar tool.
About GPT files
A .GPT file primarily functions as a Citrix Group Policy file, utilized by Citrix Workspace and enterprise server environments to dictate user permissions, network access rights, and workstation configurations. Less frequently, it acts as a Gerber Top Paste Mask file used by PCB design software like Altium Designer to specify solder paste layers, or as a groundwater modeling project file in the USGS ModelMuse software.
The main disadvantage of the .GPT format is its rigid, proprietary nature. Citrix policy files utilize specific data structures that are typically unreadable in standard text editors, forcing IT administrators to rely on dedicated, expensive Citrix management consoles just to audit a simple rule change. Similarly, Gerber .GPT files require specialized CAM or CAD software, locking users into complex workflows simply to view a circuit board layer.
To overcome these strict limitations, you should convert your .GPT files based on your intended workflow. For auditing, troubleshooting, or version-controlling Citrix policies, convert the data to XML or TXT. If dealing with a Gerber Paste Mask and you need to share it with non-engineers, convert it to PDF or SVG for universal viewing.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GPT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GPT file to MBR, SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR or PIF, you can use Citrix Workspace or similar software from the "System Configuration Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to GPT, try Citrix Workspace or another comparable tool in the "System Configuration Storage" category.
The GPT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GPT converter.
