About GNH files
The .GNH file type is a proprietary project file generated by Gravostyle software, developed by Gravotech (formerly Gravograph New Hermes). These files function as the central "job file" for CNC and laser engraving machines, storing vector paths, text layouts, toolpath settings, and machine-specific instructions.
Because .GNH is a closed, industrial format, it is essentially useless outside of the licensed Gravostyle environment. Users commonly encounter problems when trying to view these files on standard office computers or when attempting to migrate legacy designs to modern vector editors like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW. The file cannot be opened by web browsers or generic CAD viewers, and accessing the data often requires a physical hardware dongle associated with the original engraving software.
For practical use outside of the machine shop, users must convert .GNH files to standard interchange formats. For design editing and vector manipulation, converting to DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) or EPS is ideal. For client proofs, archiving, or simple viewing, PDF is the recommended target.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GNH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GNH file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Gravostyle or similar software from the "CNC Engraving Job" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to GNH, try Gravostyle or another comparable tool in the "CNC Engraving Job" category.
The GNH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GNH converter.
