About VNM files
The .vnm file extension serves two distinct, high-value industrial purposes. Primarily, it acts as a Nameplate design file for Pepperl+Fuchs VisuNet industrial HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems, functioning as a digital personality profile that stores connection settings and screen layouts for thin clients. Alternatively, within the Videojet ecosystem, it contains proprietary printer job data and label layouts for DataFlex thermal transfer overprinters. A third niche use involves source code for VenomIDE embedded controllers.
These formats are highly proprietary, closed, and frustratingly locked to their original software environments like VisuNet Control Center or CLARiSUITE. Users often hit a wall because standard text editors or image viewers cannot parse the internal binary or XML structures. This creates massive headaches for IT administrators and engineers who need to document system settings for compliance audits or verify connection strings without accessing the physical hardware. Furthermore, requiring a specialized driver or heavy software installation just to view a label layout is incredibly inefficient.
Converting .vnm files to open formats like XML, TXT, or CSV is highly recommended for debugging and extracting raw configuration data. For documentation and auditing, exporting to PDF is the ideal target, though visual layout elements may be lost or flattened. Because the format is undocumented, standard online converters fail entirely. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the exact format, view its internal structure, and extract any readable text or embedded configurations when supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VNM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert VNM file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use VisuNet Control Center or similar software from the "Industrial Automation Configuration" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to VNM, try VisuNet Control Center or another comparable tool in the "Industrial Automation Configuration" category.
The VNM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VNM converter.
