About GGP files

A .ggp file usually represents a "black box" data container that falls into one of three distinct categories, making correct identification the critical first step before conversion.

  1. Automotive Diagnostic Data (61% of files): Generated by Launch Tech for CReader and X431 diagnostic tools. These are proprietary binary data packs containing vehicle protocols or firmware updates. The main issue here is that users often try to "open" these on a PC to view diagnostic reports, but the file is strictly machine code meant to be loaded onto the handheld scanner via USB or SD card. They cannot be converted to PDF or DOCX.
  2. OSKA Construction Estimate (17% of files): Used by AMP Yazılım for cost estimation. The "secret" here is that these are often standard ZIP archives with a changed extension. Users without the expensive OSKA software license are often locked out of their data, not realizing they can simply rename the file to zip to extract the internal XML or XLS spreadsheets.
  3. GEMS Mining Data: Created by Gemcom (now Seequent) for geological 3D modeling. These are high-density vector or point-cloud files that are notoriously difficult to interoperate with standard CAD software like AutoCAD.
