Extract text from FotoFinder and CAD files (FXF)
To convert FXF files to another format, you need FotoFinder Universe or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Medical & CAD Data" file type, you need software like FotoFinder Universe or a similar tool.
The .FXF format is a fragmented extension used for multiple highly specialized, proprietary functions. It is most commonly utilized by FotoFinder Systems to store sensitive dermatology body mapping and skin imaging data. Alternatively, it serves as a furniture design exchange file for imos AG CAD/CAM software (often interacting with Cabinet Vision), an electronic form filler packaged by Foxit Software, or an Action File for IBM BigFix.
To natively open these files, users must rely on FotoFinder Universe, imos iX, Foxit PDF Editor, or the BigFix Console. Because these formats belong to entirely disconnected and closed ecosystems, they present severe interoperability challenges. A .FXF medical file is essentially useless outside of the specific clinic's network, and an imos design file requires an expensive CAD software license to view. Sending these files to clients or patients without prior export guarantees frustration.
For sharing and accessibility, CAD data should ideally be exported to DXF, STEP, or PDF. Dermatology imaging should be converted to standard JPG or DICOM directly within the FotoFinder application. Foxit form data can sometimes be extracted to standard XML.
Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, standard online tools fail completely. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
