About FXA files
The .FXA file is a FaceFX Actor file containing facial animation data, bone poses, and audio mapping used to animate 3D characters in video games. It is primarily managed using FaceFX Studio and is often generated via plugins for Autodesk 3ds Max or Maya. Users frequently need to convert this file because it is a highly proprietary format that requires an expensive software license to open natively. It is not supported by standard web browsers, generic 3D viewers, or media players, as the file contains raw animation math and curves rather than actual video pixels. The best target format for transferring this animation data into other 3D pipelines is FBX (Filmbox). Note that when baking FaceFX animations to FBX, the procedural audio-driven lip-sync data is converted into raw keyframes, meaning you lose the original phonetic editability. Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible at convert.guru.
