About FRG files

The .frg file extension is a generic identifier for a Fragment of data, most commonly associated with proprietary hardware rather than desktop software. The majority of these files are Navigation System Data Fragments used by Clarion car audio systems to store map updates and firmware logic. Because these files are raw binary blobs designed for embedded operating systems, they appear as unintelligible code if opened in a standard text editor like Notepad. A significant minority of these files may be firmware packages for satellite receivers (Coolstream) or engine tune files for DiabloSport tuners.

However, in creative workflows, an .frg file can be a legacy project file for Sound Forge Pro, the audio editing suite now owned by MAGIX. The critical problem here is that a Sound Forge .frg file contains no actual audio - it is purely a set of instructions and pointers. You cannot convert it directly to MP3 or WAV using a generic online converter because the source audio files referenced by the project are missing.
