About FRAG files

The .FRAG file extension serves multiple distinct technical purposes, most commonly as a GLSL Fragment Shader source code file or a Fragmented MP4 Video Segment. In 3D graphics rendering, an OpenGL Shading Language fragment shader dictates how individual pixels are colored and lit on screen. Alternatively, streaming protocols use .FRAG files to deliver chunked MP4 video data for adaptive bitrate streaming, avoiding massive initial file downloads. A smaller subset of .FRAG files contains IFC model fragments compressed with zlib for web-based BIM rendering via IFC.js. The problem with .FRAG files is their lack of universal support. Standard operating systems do not know how to open them. Shader .FRAG files are raw text but lack the generic TXT extension, causing default text editors to ignore them. Fragmented video files are unplayable in standard media players because they lack the necessary header data found in complete video containers. Furthermore, managing hundreds of video fragments manually is tedious and breaks playback outside of specialized streaming servers. For web use or standard code editing, convert shader .FRAG files to TXT or GLSL. For video use, fragmented segments should be merged and converted to a standard MP4 or MKV container to guarantee playback across desktop and mobile devices.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FRAG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MOVPKG, VERT, DESCRIPTOR, GLSL, XML, M3U8, TXT, ZIP, MP4 and PDF files.

FAQ

If you want to convert FRAG file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use OpenGL or similar software from the "Shader Source & Video Segments" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to FRAG, try OpenGL or another comparable tool in the "Shader Source & Video Segments" category.

The FRAG Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FRAG converter.
