Convert VERT to another file type
To convert VERT Vertex shaders to another format, you need Sketch Engine or other Developer software.
Convert a file to VERT
To convert other file formats to the "Corpus Data or Shader Code" file type, you need software like Sketch Engine or a similar tool.
About VERT files
The .VERT file extension serves two entirely different technical purposes. First, it functions as a Verticalized Linguistic Corpus File heavily utilized by corpus linguistics software like Sketch Engine. These files store enormous text datasets where every word, punctuation mark, and metadata tag is placed on its own vertical line. Second, .VERT files act as Vertex Shader Source Code written in the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL). These are raw text files executed directly by a computer's GPU to calculate vertex positions and lighting in 3D applications managed by the Khronos Group API.
The main disadvantage of the .VERT format is that native operating systems like Windows and macOS do not know what to do with it. Clicking the file usually results in an 'Open With' prompt. Furthermore, linguistic corpus files are notoriously large - often exceeding gigabytes - which causes default programs like Notepad or TextEdit to freeze and crash completely. Vertex shaders, meanwhile, lack automatic syntax highlighting unless the operating system is manually configured to treat them as developer code.
To make these files accessible, you often need to convert or extract their contents. For linguistic data, convert to CSV or TXT to safely import the data into robust database tools or spreadsheets. For 3D development, converting or renaming to standard GLSL ensures immediate compatibility with modern IDEs.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VERT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert VERT file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Sketch Engine or similar software from the "Text Corpus or Vertex Shader" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to VERT, try Sketch Engine or another comparable tool in the "Text Corpus or Vertex Shader" category.
The VERT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VERT converter.
