About FIND files
The .find file format is a highly uncommon legacy data container. It is most frequently found in vintage software archives - specifically the Golden Orchard Apple II CD-ROM collection. In some modern developer environments, custom scripts may also generate .find files as plain-text logs to cache search queries or database results.
Opening these files natively requires a legacy Apple II emulator (like AppleWin) for binary versions, or a standard code editor like Notepad++ for text-based logs.
The primary disadvantage of the .find format is its complete obsolescence and lack of standardized file signatures. Modern operating systems do not recognize it. Attempting to open it directly will result in frustrating "Windows cannot open this file" errors. It is not supported by web browsers, requires specialized tools to interpret, and is completely impractical for sharing data with modern users.
Converting a .find file to TXT, CSV, or PDF is the best workaround. A TXT file preserves raw log data perfectly, while CSV is ideal if the file contains structured search tables. Note that if the source is a purely compiled 8-bit binary, converting it to text may result in unreadable characters or a loss of legacy software functionality.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because its internal structure is either entirely undocumented or proprietary to 1980s architectures. Standard online converters fail because they rely on modern file headers that are absent here. Often, only the original legacy software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded text format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FIND file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FIND file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use AppleWin or similar software from the "Legacy Search Log Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to FIND, try AppleWin or another comparable tool in the "Legacy Search Log Data" category.
The FIND Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FIND converter.
