About FH10 files
The .FH10 file is a legacy vector graphics drawing created by Macromedia FreeHand 10, a once-dominant design software released in 2001. These files contain scalable vector paths, text, layouts, and print settings used for everything from logo design to technical illustration.
The primary problem users face is proprietary lock-in: Adobe acquired Macromedia in 2005 and officially discontinued FreeHand. While early versions of Adobe Illustrator (CS3 through CS5.5) could open these files, Illustrator CS6 and all Creative Cloud (CC) versions completely removed native support. This leaves designers and archivists unable to open their own work on modern operating systems without specific plugins or obsolete hardware.
To access these files today, the best solution is converting them to modern standards. For editing in current software, convert to AI (Adobe Illustrator) or EPS. For viewing, sharing, or archiving without font dependency issues, convert to PDF. For web use, SVG is the standard, though complex FreeHand gradient meshes may require rasterization.

The FH10 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FH10 converter.
