About FEF files

The .fef file extension is primarily associated with three distinct formats: a FocusOnCrypt encrypted video file, an ECG data exchange format (CEN-13734), or a Fujifilm RAW image. FocusOnCrypt uses this format to securely lock video files, medical systems use it to standardize electrophysiology data, and older Fujifilm cameras use it as an uncompressed RAW image container (internally structured as a TIFF).

To open a FocusOnCrypt .fef file, you need the native FocusOnCrypt software and the correct decryption key. Medical ECG data files require specialized clinical software like CardioLab. Fujifilm RAW files can be opened using Fujifilm FinePix Viewer or modern RAW editors like Adobe Lightroom.

Users struggle with .fef files because the extension is highly fragmented and proprietary. The FocusOnCrypt format is heavily encrypted; without the password, it is an unusable binary blob. The medical ECG format is highly specialized and completely unsupported by standard office tools. The Fujifilm RAW format generates massive files that lack native support in standard web browsers and mobile operating systems.

For Fujifilm RAW files, the best conversion targets are JPG for web sharing or DNG for universal RAW archiving. ECG data should be exported to CSV or PDF for easier sharing among medical professionals. Encrypted videos must first be decrypted into standard MP4 or MKV formats using the native software.

Because of these strict proprietary formats and heavy encryption, standard online converters almost always fail to process .fef files. Our analyzer can inspect the file headers and, if an underlying supported format like TIFF is detected, we can extract the embedded content.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FEF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted UU, XX and RG files.

The FEF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FEF converter.
