The .FEATURE file extension primarily identifies a Gherkin feature specification file used in Behavior-Driven Development (BDD). These files contain executable test scenarios written in plain text using a specific syntax (Given, When, Then). They are utilized by testing frameworks like Cucumber and Karate DSL. A smaller percentage of these files act as SharePoint Feature Files developed by Microsoft, storing XML data for SharePoint site features. Most non-technical users struggle to open .FEATURE files because Windows and macOS do not natively recognize the extension.
