About FCT files

The .FCT file is primarily an HMI (Human Machine Interface) function script used in Siemens WinCC flexible. It contains programmable functions and automation logic for SCADA systems. To open or edit these files natively, users require Siemens WinCC flexible or the TIA Portal. Alternatively, older .FCT files belong to Greeting Card Factory Deluxe as Microsoft Compound project files. The major disadvantage of the .FCT format is its highly proprietary nature. Siemens function scripts are locked into the WinCC ecosystem, requiring an expensive industrial software license to open. Greeting Card Factory files suffer from obsolescence, as the software is outdated and uses a closed project format. Standard online converters cannot process these files because they lack the proprietary rendering engines. Converting a WinCC .FCT script is typically restricted to exporting text or logic data (like TXT or CSV) within the Siemens software itself. Greeting card projects might be exported to PDF or JPG if you still have the original software installed. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data.
