Extract text from FBU files

The .FBU file extension is a legacy backup format created by FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension), a once-popular tool for saving Mozilla Firefox profiles. These files contain a comprehensive snapshot of a user's browsing environment, including bookmarks, extensions (.XPI), cookies, passwords, and history.
The Problem: FEBE is no longer compatible with modern versions of Firefox (v57 Quantum and later), meaning users cannot simply "restore" an .FBU file into a current browser. The software required to open it natively is defunct, leaving valuable data seemingly locked inside an unrecognized format.
The Solution: Beneath the proprietary extension, an .FBU file is actually a standard ZIP archive. You do not need special conversion software. For immediate access, you can rename the file extension from .FBU to ZIP and open it with 7-Zip or Windows Explorer. Inside, you will find components like bookmarks.html (which can be manually imported into any modern browser like Chrome or Edge) and distinct folders for your extensions and preferences.
