To convert other file formats to the "Simulation Data File" file type, you need software like HEC-RAS or a similar tool.
The .F01 format is heavily fragmented and serves specific, proprietary data storage purposes. The most common use case is a River analysis flow data file generated by the Hydrologic Engineering Center's River Analysis System (HEC-RAS), which stores steady flow data, cross-sections, and water surface profiles for hydraulic modeling. Another frequent use is a Bank payment collection file generated by the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for batch transaction processing. Alternatively, Eplan uses .F01 as an XML-based electrical project form data file.
Because .F01 files are tied to legacy or highly specialized systems, opening them without the exact originating software is notoriously difficult. HEC-RAS projects cannot easily be viewed in standard GIS or spreadsheet tools. BPI transaction files are flat data structures that human users cannot easily audit. They completely lack native support in modern web browsers and data platforms.
