Convert HYD to another file type

To convert HYD projects to another format, you need HEC-RAS or other Data software.

Convert a file to HYD

To convert other file formats to the "Engineering Data File" file type, you need software like HEC-RAS or a similar tool.

About HYD files

The .HYD file format is primarily used to store highly specialized hydrology and hydraulic engineering data. Typical use cases include saving project parameters in the FHWA Hydraulic Toolbox, storing stormwater hydrograph time-series data in HydroCAD or HEC-RAS, and defining soil hydraulic properties for the HYDRUS-1D modeling software. These files present a major compatibility challenge because they are proprietary and deeply tied to niche engineering applications. You cannot open them natively in standard web browsers, and they often require expensive, Windows-only civil engineering software to read or edit. If you send a .HYD file to a client or colleague who lacks the exact software version, they will be completely locked out of the data. To solve this, you need to extract the raw metrics into more accessible formats. For data analysis and spreadsheet editing, convert .HYD to CSV or XLSX. If you only need to share a static report of the hydrograph data or project settings for archiving, convert it to .PDF/A. Drag and drop your file here to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your HYD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted G01, F01 and G02 files.

FAQ

If you want to convert HYD file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use HEC-RAS or similar software from the "Hydraulic and Hydrology Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to HYD, try HEC-RAS or another comparable tool in the "Hydraulic and Hydrology Data" category.

The HYD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HYD converter.
