About EXM files
The .EXM extension primarily identifies exam database files used by Visual CertExam Suite (developed by Avanset) and similar testing engines like Vumingo. These files store collections of multiple-choice questions, answers, and explanations for professional certification practice (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft exams).
The Problem: .EXM files are proprietary and often tied to legacy versions of exam simulators. They cannot be opened by standard readers like Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Word. Users frequently encounter access issues because the specific software required to view them is either expensive, discontinued, or incompatible with modern operating systems (often replaced by the newer VCE format). Additionally, the file structure prevents easy printing or studying on mobile devices.
The Solution:
- For Study & Print: Convert the exam data to PDF. This ensures the questions and answers are accessible on any device and can be physically printed.
- For Editing: Convert to RTF or TXT to extract the text for use in other flashcard apps or word processors.
- For Honeywell Users: A secondary use of .EXM is for Honeywell scanner configurations (EZConfig). These are actually XML files. If your file is text-readable, convert it to JSON or formatted XML for easier debugging.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EXM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted EXI, PDF, DOCX, TXT, VCE, JPG, BIN, XLSX, C4D and CHD files.
The EXM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EXM converter.
