About ER files

The .ER extension represents a split landscape of file formats, primarily functioning as Nintendo Wii Audio Streams or Entity Relationship Diagrams.

Nintendo Wii Audio: Found in games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, these files contain raw audio data. The main challenge is their proprietary encoding; standard media players like Windows Media Player cannot play them. To listen to soundtracks or use them in video editing, users must convert these .ER files to common audio formats like MP3 or WAV.

Entity Relationship (ER) Diagrams: Created by tools like ERMaster, ERDPlus, and Erwiz, these files store database schema structures. A major downside is interoperability; a file created in ERMaster is often incompatible with other modeling tools. For documentation or implementation, users typically need to convert these schemas into SQL scripts for database generation, or PDF and PNG for sharing with stakeholders.

Eurocommand Reports: A smaller subset of .ER files are encrypted ZIP archives used by Eurocommand ENAio for crisis management reporting, which require specific software to decrypt and view.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ER file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ERD, TEST, TOC and OCS files.

The ER Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ER converter.
