Convert EFE to another file type
To convert EFE Data and invoices to another format, you need Altair Feko or other Data software.
Convert a file to EFE
To convert other file formats to the "Near Field Data File" file type, you need software like Altair Feko or a similar tool.
About EFE files
The .EFE file extension serves two distinct, specialized purposes that often confuse users due to their proprietary nature. Primarily, it is an Electric Near Field data file generated by Altair Feko, a comprehensive computational electromagnetics code widely used in telecommunications and aerospace. These files contain complex vector data representing electric field values calculated on a specific spatial grid.
The real problem for engineers is that .EFE files are strict, formatted outputs intended for post-processing within the Altair ecosystem (specifically POSTFEKO). They are not natively viewable in standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or text editors without risking formatting corruption. To analyze this data externally or compare it with measurement results, users frequently need to convert these files to CSV, TXT, or MATLAB-compatible formats.
Alternatively, in specific business contexts (particularly within European electronic invoicing systems), an .EFE file may function as an electronic invoice template associated with eFactura software. These files often utilize a Microsoft Compound File binary format, making them inaccessible to standard PDF readers or web browsers. For these users, the priority is converting the proprietary invoice template into a standard, archival-quality PDF or .PDF/A document to ensure the invoice can be legally archived, printed, and shared without requiring specific legacy accounting software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EFE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert EFE file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use Altair Feko or similar software from the "Electromagnetic Simulation Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to EFE, try Altair Feko or another comparable tool in the "Electromagnetic Simulation Data" category.
The EFE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EFE converter.
