About EFE files

The .EFE file extension primarily stores Electric Near Field data generated by Altair Feko, a specialized electromagnetic simulation software. A secondary use is as an electronic invoice template for the eFactura invoicing system, which relies on the Microsoft Compound internal architecture. A rare third use is the Ensoniq EPS audio format for E-Mu hardware. The main disadvantage of the .EFE format is its proprietary lock-in. Feko simulation data requires a very expensive, enterprise-grade software license just to visualize the fields. eFactura templates are restricted to specific billing software ecosystems and will not open cleanly in standard text editors or word processors. Users typically need to convert simulation .EFE files to CSV or TXT for external data analysis, or convert invoice templates to PDF or XML for easier client sharing. Because these are highly specialized, closed formats, standard online converters almost always fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the complex data structures.
