About EDD files
The .EDD file extension primarily acts as a proprietary data container for three distinct applications: digital whiteboard projects in Explain Everything, embroidery patterns in the Richpeace Embroidery Design System, and technical diagrams in Syncfusion Diagram Designer. Explain Everything uses these Java-based files to store interactive presentations, combining logic with embedded media assets. Richpeace uses them to store specific vector paths and stitch routing data for industrial embroidery machines. Because these formats are highly specialized and proprietary, standard software and web browsers cannot natively open them. Users frequently face vendor lock-in; opening a whiteboard project requires an active subscription or app installation, while embroidery data requires expensive CAD/CAM software. The files are completely useless to collaborators who lack these specific environments. To make the content shareable, you must convert these files into universal formats. Explain Everything projects should be exported to .MP4 for animated sessions or .PDF for static slides. Richpeace files require conversion to standard machine formats like .DST or .PES. Syncfusion diagrams are best exported as .PNG or .SVG. However, standard online converters fail to process .EDD files because the internal data structures are closed, undocumented, and often serialized.
