About DSG files
The .DSG extension serves two distinct, proprietary industries, creating significant confusion for users. It is most frequently an embroidery design file used by Barudan machines and Wilcom EmbroideryStudio, containing vector-based stitch data. These files are strictly locked to the embroidery workflow; without expensive industry-specific software, you cannot view the thread colors or stitch paths. Users typically need to convert these to DST (Tajima) or PES (Brother) for machine cross-compatibility, or to JPG/PDF for client approval sheets.
Alternatively, a .DSG file may be a kitchen and bath layout created by 2020 Design Live (now part of Cyncly). These files function as containers (often ZIP-compressed) for room geometry and catalog data. They are notorious for being inaccessible to standard CAD tools like AutoCAD or SketchUp. To collaborate with contractors who don't pay for a 2020 subscription, users generally need to export or convert these designs into universal DWG, DXF, or PDF formats.
Note: In South Korea, this extension is also used by SoftForum XecureWeb for digitally signed banking documents. These should not be converted as they contain cryptographic signatures.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DSG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PMB, DGS, JPG, SVG, ZIP, DWG, PDF, EZD, KIT and LPD files.
The DSG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DSG converter.
