The .dsd extension primarily refers to two distinct file formats that often cause confusion due to their specialized nature.
First, it serves as the DART (Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer) electronic disclosure document format, widely used by South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) for corporate filings. While these files are essential for analyzing financial data, they are technically ZIP archives containing XML, images, and other resources. Users often struggle to open them because standard archivers do not automatically recognize the .dsd extension, requiring users to rename the file or manually select a decompression tool. Second, in the engineering world, a .dsd file is an AutoCAD Drawing Set Description file. This text-based format does not contain the actual drawing geometry but rather a list of file paths pointing to DWG layouts intended for batch printing. A common frustration is attempting to "open" a DSD file without the referenced drawings being present, which results in errors. Users typically need to process these files within AutoCAD to "convert" the set into a multi-page PDF or DWF for easy sharing and archiving.
