Convert a file to DRI
To convert other file formats to the "PCB Drill File" file type, you need software like Autodesk EAGLE or a similar tool.
About DRI files
A .DRI file is most commonly a Drill Rack Information or Excellon Drill file generated by Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software like Autodesk EAGLE or KiCad. It serves as the instruction set for CNC machines to drill holes in a Printed Circuit Board (PCB), containing the X/Y coordinates and specific tool codes (drill bit sizes). While these files are technically ASCII text, reading them manually is impractical. A major issue is that .DRI files often rely on separate tool definition headers or implied decimal places, making them prone to scaling errors when imported into mismatched CAM software. Users frequently need to convert these manufacturing artifacts into accessible formats. For documentation and design review, convert .DRI to PDF or SVG to visualize the hole pattern without needing a Gerber viewer. For mechanical integration (e.g., designing an enclosure), convert the drill pattern to DXF to import into AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Note that a secondary, less common use of this extension is for GE MV3000 drive configuration settings.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DRI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DRI file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Autodesk EAGLE or similar software from the "PCB Manufacturing Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to DRI, try Autodesk EAGLE or another comparable tool in the "PCB Manufacturing Data" category.
The DRI Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DRI converter.
