About DRAFT files
The .DRAFT file extension is primarily used by the Indian Income Tax Department as an offline save format for their ITR e-Filing Utility. These files store your partially completed tax return data as plain XML. Other software also utilizes the .DRAFT extension: Caterpillar Cat Inspect uses it for JSON inspection data, Cadlogic Draft It uses it for 2D CAD drawings, and the iOS Writing app Draft uses it as a ZIP container for text. Because .DRAFT files are proprietary states saved by specific applications, they suffer from severe interoperability issues. A tax return .DRAFT requires the exact fiscal year's offline utility to open. You cannot natively view these files in a web browser, making them frustrating to share or audit. To make the data readable, you need to convert it to a PDF document or standard XML and JSON formats. However, because these are closed application states, standard online converters often fail to process them. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DRAFT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DRAFT file to PDF, DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT or X_T, you can use ITR e-Filing Utility or similar software from the "Saved Application State Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to DRAFT, try ITR e-Filing Utility or another comparable tool in the "Saved Application State Data" category.
The DRAFT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DRAFT converter.
