About DR files
The .DR file extension serves as a catch-all for various recovery and backup formats, most notably associated with CorelDRAW as a drawing recovery archive. These files are typically generated automatically during a software crash or autosave event. The main frustration for users is that .DR files are often temporary containers that do not open natively when double-clicked, leaving critical vector work inaccessible. Furthermore, because Oracle reports and Android apps like Millie Diary also utilize this extension for generated reports and JSON backups respectively, determining the correct software to open the file is a trial-and-error process. For CorelDRAW users, these files may technically be ZIP archives containing the raw drawing data, meaning a simple extension rename might allow you to salvage assets. However, if the file is a DRM Rights Object, it is encrypted data used to verify licenses on mobile devices and cannot be converted or viewed, presenting a definitive dead-end for file conversion.
