About DR files
A .DR file primarily serves as a temporary drawing recovery file created by CorelDRAW. These files are generated automatically during editing sessions to prevent data loss in case of a crash. Other software also uses the .DR extension, including Android diary applications like Millie Diary and My Dark Diary for storing JSON-based backups, Oracle Reports for generated PDF document reports, and Veritas System Recovery for backup metadata. Because the extension is shared by completely different programs, a .DR file has no native desktop association. The main disadvantage is this ambiguity; your operating system will not know which program to use to open it. It is also often a proprietary container or an application-specific backup that standard web browsers cannot display. Users typically need to convert or extract .DR files to recover lost work or migrate diary entries to a readable format. The best target formats depend on the origin: rename or convert graphics recovery files to ZIP to extract the vector data, convert diary backups to JSON or TXT to read your entries, and treat report outputs as PDF files. Opening or converting this format traditionally is difficult because only the original software understands the specific data structure. Standard online converters usually fail because they do not analyze the internal file header. Our tool will inspect the file to see what it is and convert it if supported. If our analysis detects an underlying ZIP, JSON, or PDF structure, viewing or extracting the contents is completely possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DR file to US, TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD or LOCK, you can use CorelDRAW or similar software from the "Drawing Recovery and Application Backup" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to DR, try CorelDRAW or another comparable tool in the "Drawing Recovery and Application Backup" category.
The DR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DR converter.
