The .DIG file extension is highly fragmented, most commonly functioning as an XML-based digital logic circuit diagram created by Logisim or similar educational logic design software. In industrial manufacturing, .DIG serves as a proprietary CAD/CAM drawing file utilized by IGEMS and JETCAM Expert. Other rare and obsolete applications include KT558 radio codeplug configurations, Digidesign audio files, and legacy Miles Design AIL sound card drivers.
The main disadvantage of the .DIG format is its lack of standardization. Depending on its source, the file could be a plain-text XML document or a proprietary, unreadable binary blob.
