About DID files
The .DID file extension is most commonly associated with dBASE IV, where it functions as a display driver, a compressed data file, or a database index file. Alternatively, it is heavily used by Cadence Allegro PCB Router as an automatic router log file, and by Simba Technologies for ODBC driver configuration. Because these are highly specific, application-dependent files, they are typically not meant to be opened directly by end-users. The primary disadvantage of the .DID format is its proprietary and fragmented nature. A .DID file from a Cadence PCB design software is structurally entirely different from a .DID file generated by a legacy database system. This lack of standardization means standard online converters usually fail to process them. You cannot easily open them in modern web browsers or standard software without encountering unreadable binary characters. If you are dealing with a database or log file variant, your best conversion targets might be standard formats like CSV or TXT to extract the raw text. However, proper export almost always requires the original software. This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because the data structures are closed. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format, viewing or extracting the content may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DID file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The DID Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DID converter.
