The .DFB file extension primarily acts as a Tribology Wear Test Data file generated by friction analyzers from Ducom Instruments. In other contexts, it operates as a Public Safety Database file for Spillman Flex systems, a proprietary biometric data file binary for HID Global fingerprint readers, a ZIP-based backup for Datafile Software, or a TIFF-based multi-page image for DocuFile.
These files are highly proprietary. Sharing a raw .DFB file with a colleague usually means they cannot open it without purchasing expensive, specialized laboratory software or enterprise public safety suites.
