About CV files

The .cv file extension serves two distinct, technical purposes that often confuse users, alongside a common naming convention for personal documents. Primarily, it is a Digital Logic Project created by CircuitVerse, a web-based simulator used to design complex CPU architectures and logic gates. These files are standard JSON text containers storing circuit metadata, wire connections, and sub-circuit layouts. The primary problem here is the platform lock-in; a .cv file is useless outside the CircuitVerse browser environment. You cannot open it in desktop tools like Logisim or view the diagram without an internet connection. Users frequently need to convert these directly to SVG or PNG for academic papers, or to valid JSON for version control.

Secondly, the extension is used by Cavalry, a procedural motion graphics tool, to store animation project data. Like the logic files, these are proprietary project definitions, not playable video files. You cannot upload a Cavalry .cv file to YouTube or send it to a client for review. It must be rendered (converted) to MP4, MOV, or WebM. Finally, many users manually rename their Resume/Curriculum Vitae documents (originally DOCX or PDF) to 'my_resume.cv', causing rejection by Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) which do not recognize the extension. For these, reverting the extension or converting to standard PDF is essential.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, DOCX, BIN, HTML, JPG, CV4, @@@, EXE, KV and HP files.
