Convert CMN to another file type
To convert CMN Comments to another format, you need test.commander or other Data software.
Convert a file to CMN
To convert other file formats to the "Performance Measurement Data" file type, you need software like test.commander or a similar tool.
About CMN files
The .CMN file format primarily functions as a Gas Turbine Performance Data or Compressor Map file associated with Solar Turbines. Alternatively, it operates as a Measurement Data Comment file utilized by the test.commander software from Gantner Instruments. In both scenarios, these files store highly specialized, machine-generated data points ranging from compressor performance metrics to raw hardware test comments.
These files present significant workflow challenges. Because the .CMN format is strictly proprietary, it creates severe vendor lock-in. You cannot natively open these files in standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or standard text editors without encountering garbled characters or missing data context. This means sharing raw performance metrics with third-party engineers or analysts requires an active license for the original, expensive industrial software. Without it, the data remains effectively inaccessible.
To make the data usable, .CMN files must often be converted to open formats like CSV, XML, or TXT. Converting to CSV allows immediate import into standard data analysis tools, though proprietary metadata tags or complex map boundary data may be lost in the process.
Because the .CMN format is closed and undocumented, standard online converters usually fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. However, convert.guru provides a pragmatic solution. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our system inspects the file structure. If our analysis detects plain text or an embedded standard format, viewing or extracting the underlying raw data is still possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CMN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CMN file to INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10, PM11, OMP or P65, you can use test.commander or similar software from the "Gas Turbine Performance Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MDI, PUB, PDP, PM4, P65, COMIC, WEBTEMPLATE, PMD, SPUB, INDD, PM5 or QXP files to CMN, try test.commander or another comparable tool in the "Gas Turbine Performance Data" category.
The CMN Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CMN converter.
