About CMN files

.CMN files are primarily associated with specialized industrial engineering data, most notably gas turbine performance maps from Solar Turbines or measurement annotation files generated by Gantner Instruments data acquisition systems.

For engineers working with Solar Turbines machinery, the .CMN file contains critical compressor map data used to analyze engine efficiency and operational limits. The primary problem here is the proprietary nature of the format; without the specific Solar Turbines software suite, accessing this performance data is nearly impossible. Users frequently need to convert these files to CSV or Excel to import the performance curves into standard analysis tools like MATLAB, or to PDF for archiving maintenance reports. Similarly, in the context of Gantner Instruments, the .CMN file acts as a 'comment' sidecar to raw measurement data (often found in DAT files). These files store metadata, sensor configurations, or test run notes. Because they are often tightly coupled with the binary data streams of the test.commander software, opening them in isolation can be frustrating. Converting these metadata files to TXT or JSON allows analysts to parse test conditions without firing up the full DAQ software suite. In rare cases, a .CMN file may simply be a 'Common' configuration file used by older Windows applications, which can usually be viewed with a standard text editor like Notepad++.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CMN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ECG, XPT and KSS files.

FAQ

If you want to convert CMN file to INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10, PM11, OMP or P65, you can use test.commander or similar software from the "Turbine Performance Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The CMN Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CMN converter.
