About CM2 files
The .CM2 file is a Poser Camera Set File. It stores precise camera settings like focal length, field of view, X/Y/Z position, and rotation for 3D scenes created in Poser.
This format is currently managed by Bondware. You can read more about the software history on its Wikipedia page.
The main disadvantage of the .CM2 format is that it is highly proprietary and software-dependent. It does not contain any actual 3D geometry (like polygons) or 2D image data. It only holds mathematical coordinates and viewport instructions. Because of this, you cannot view it natively on a mobile device or web browser, and it requires expensive, specialized software to interpret.
If you need to transfer this data outside of Poser, your best conversion targets are plain text formats like TXT, JSON, or XML to manually extract the numerical parameters. If you want a visual image of the view, you must load the camera in the original 3D host and render a JPG or PNG.
Standard online converters fail to process .CM2 files because they attempt to process them as 3D meshes, which this file lacks. This is a closed, proprietary format. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CM2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted CM2XM, CM3, CM5, CM4 and M2 files.

The CM2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CM2 converter.
