About CL5 files
A .CL5 file is a proprietary project file created by Easy CD Creator 5, a legacy disc authoring suite released by Roxio in the early 2000s. Specifically, it functions as a CD Label Creator project, storing the layout designs for CD/DVD disc faces, jewel case inserts, and booklets.
Users often attempt to convert these files to PDF or JPG to reprint old family photo archives or music mix covers. However, significant friction exists: the file is not an image but a container of instructions (coordinates, text, and font settings) that references external image files on your hard drive. If you try to open a .CL5 file on a new computer where the original photos are missing or moved, the layout will load with empty placeholders or 'Missing Asset' errors. Additionally, because the format is binary and closed-source, no modern third-party image viewers (like IrfanView or Photoshop) can render it. The only reliable conversion method is to open the file in a compatible version of Roxio Creator and use the 'Print' function to save as a PDF.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CL5 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted AXP, CIF, LTH, RXC and CL4 files.
The CL5 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CL5 converter.
