About RXC files

A .RXC file is a Roxio Certificate File utilized primarily by Roxio Creator and legacy media management tools developed by Sonic Solutions. It functions as a digital software passport, storing heavily encrypted validation data and registration certificates necessary to authorize program execution on a specific machine.

These files are generated automatically during the installation process and are strictly meant to be read natively by Roxio software. Because they are securely locked system files, users typically encounter them only when attempting to troubleshoot launch errors or migrate software licenses to a new computer. The primary disadvantage of the .RXC format is its highly restrictive, proprietary nature - it cannot be modified or edited in standard text environments without corrupting the digital signature and breaking the software entirely. Furthermore, standard online converters fail to parse these files because they lack standard document or media headers.

While functional conversion to another active certificate format is impossible, administrators may occasionally want to extract readable text to TXT or PDF to audit license strings, though the resulting output will largely consist of encrypted hexadecimal code.

This file format is intentionally difficult to open or convert to deter software piracy. Often, only the original application can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RXC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CIF, LTH and CL5 files.

The RXC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RXC converter.
