About CFL files
The .CFL file extension is most commonly associated with Promethean ClassFlow Interactive Lesson files. Teachers use these files to build and share digital classroom presentations. Under the hood, these modern .CFL files are essentially ZIP archives containing XML data, images, and other media. Alternatively, older .CFL files might be legacy flowcharts created by Corel CorelFLOW, which are based on the Microsoft Compound File format. Other niche uses include FMOD compressed sound banks for video games, CGNS/ADF aerodynamic databases, or IMVU 3D product files. The main disadvantage of the .CFL format is its heavily proprietary nature. You cannot open a ClassFlow lesson natively in a standard web browser, nor can modern vector editors read a 1990s CorelFLOW diagram. Users usually want to convert these files into PDF for universal document sharing or extract the internal JPG, PNG, or WAV media. Standard online converters fail because the format requires the original specialized software to correctly render the layouts or decode the proprietary audio streams.
