About CFD files

The .CFD extension acts as a container for several unrelated, highly specialized proprietary formats, creating massive confusion for users. The most common variation is a Czech banking payment file (often formatted in the ABO standard), used for processing batch financial transactions. Other frequent uses include Cambium Networks diagnostic configurations, legacy Adobe Central print job definitions, and chemical structure databases generated by ACD/Labs ChemFolder.

Users typically need to convert .CFD files to extract trapped data for auditing, reporting, or migrating to newer systems. The primary disadvantage of the .CFD format is that it is severely fragmented and rarely self-describing. A financial .CFD is typically a strictly formatted plain text file that appears as an unreadable block of numbers in standard text editors. Conversely, a chemical .CFD is a closed binary database locked entirely into the ACD/ChemSketch ecosystem. Because of this overlap, operating systems will not know which default application to assign, leaving users stranded with annoying file association errors.

When dealing with financial ABO data or network diagnostic logs, the optimal conversion target is CSV or XLSX for clean analysis in Microsoft Excel, or standard TXT. If you are handling scientific structures, you must export them directly from the original software to universal formats like SDF or MOL.

Converting a .CFD file is notoriously difficult because standard web converters cannot guess which of the five different file architectures your specific document uses. Furthermore, these are closed, proprietary structures meant strictly for machine-to-machine communication, not human reading.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CFD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CDF, PDF, HD, MC3 and LSF files.
