About CDMP files

A .CDMP file is a Color Device Model Profile used exclusively by the Microsoft Windows Color System (WCS). These files mathematically map how hardware devices like monitors, printers, and scanners reproduce color values. Introduced in Windows Vista, Microsoft built this format to replace older binary color profiles. The main disadvantage of the .CDMP format is its severe lack of cross-platform support. It is a strictly proprietary Windows system file. If you send a .CDMP file to a macOS or Linux user, their operating system cannot read it. Even professional design software like Adobe Photoshop or CorelDRAW typically reject these files on non-Windows machines, demanding universally accepted formats instead. To solve these compatibility issues, you must convert .CDMP to ICC or ICM files. Because a .CDMP is built using XML, you can also convert it to standard XML or TXT to read the raw mathematical color data. Converting a mathematical WCS model into a static ICC lookup table may cause very slight shifts in color rendering, but it is mandatory for cross-platform workflows. Proprietary system files are difficult to convert because most standard online converters do not recognize the specific WCS schemas. Because our analysis detects the underlying XML format, viewing the internal text is always possible, helping you troubleshoot color calibration parameters even when a direct ICC conversion is restricted by proprietary software limits.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CDMP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
