About GMMP files
The .GMMP file extension refers to a Gamut Map Model Profile used by the Windows Color System (WCS). Unlike traditional binary ICC profiles, .GMMP files are structured as XML documents. Their primary function is to define the algorithms and parameters for mapping colors from a source device's gamut (like a monitor) to a destination device's gamut (like a printer). While the text-based nature of .GMMP makes them transparent, they are specialized system files often locked within the Microsoft Windows color infrastructure. Users often find themselves unable to "open" these files in standard image viewers because they contain mathematical mapping instructions, not pixel data. For debugging or auditing color workflows, converting these files to standard TXT or XML allows developers and color scientists to inspect the underlying schema without specialized WCS tools. For cross-platform compatibility, these proprietary definitions often need to be recreated as standard ICC profiles, as .GMMP is not natively supported on macOS or Linux.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GMMP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GMMP file to SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR, PIF or LNK, you can use Microsoft Windows or similar software from the "Color Gamut Mapping" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to GMMP, try Microsoft Windows or another comparable tool in the "Color Gamut Mapping" category.
The GMMP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GMMP converter.
