About CDDX files
A .CDDX file is primarily a Circuit Diagram Document, a vector-based schematic created by the open-source Circuit Diagram application. These files act as containers (formatted as ZIP archives holding XML data) that store electronic component layouts, wire connections, and netlists. Users often need to convert these files because the .CDDX format is not natively supported by standard image viewers, web browsers, or documentation tools like Microsoft Word. While specialized setups (such as Tobii Dynavox Communicator 5) are sometimes associated with this extension in legacy datasets, the vast majority of .CDDX files are circuit schematics. Common catchs include the inability to open these files on mobile devices or share them with non-technical stakeholders who lack the desktop software. To overcome this, users convert .CDDX to PDF for printing and archiving, or SVG and PNG for embedding in reports and web pages.
