Convert CDB to another file type

To convert CDB databases to another format, you need SQLite or other Database software.

Convert a file to CDB

To convert other file formats to the "Application Specific Database" file type, you need software like SQLite or a similar tool.

About CDB files

The .CDB file extension is highly fragmented and serves as a localized database format for a vast array of completely unrelated software applications. Common implementations include standard SQLite databases used by Yu-Gi-Oh! card game simulators like YGOPro and machine learning datasets for Microsoft Cognitive Toolkit (CNTK). It is also heavily used as proprietary storage for Pro Cycling Manager game databases, Dymo CardScan business card contacts, and MikroTik WinBox address books. Less commonly, .CDB files function as conceptual data models for SAP PowerDesigner (using an underlying XML structure), network node backups for Ericsson MINI-LINK (using ZIP compression), or legacy Microsoft Pocket Access databases.

The primary disadvantage of .CDB files is this severe lack of standardization. Because developers use the extension simply as an abbreviation for 'Database,' most .CDB files are proprietary binary blobs explicitly locked to the software that created them. They are not supported by web browsers, require the exact original program to render properly, and often become inaccessible when legacy software (like Nokia Symbian PC Suites or older Dymo scanners) is deprecated. This creates a massive lock-in problem, making data recovery highly frustrating for end users.

Converting a .CDB file highly depends on its internal architecture. Standard online converters almost always fail because they cannot guess which of the dozens of .CDB variations you uploaded. If the file is a standard SQLite database, the best target formats are CSV or SQL to extract table data. If it is an underlying XML or ZIP file, converting to TXT or extracting the archive is preferred.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because only the original software understands the specific database schema or proprietary encryption. However, convert.guru can act as a realistic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the exact format, view its internal structure, and convert it when our analysis detects a supported embedded format like SQLite, XML, or ZIP.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CDB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CBD, WBX, VIW, C1DB, CBR, ZIP, DCB, CBZ, DB, TXT, CSV, PDF and JPG files.

The CDB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CDB converter.
