About BXP files

A .bxp file is primarily a Business Exchange Package created by i-net Clear Reports. It functions as a compressed ZIP container that bundles a report template (often .RPT) with associated resources like images, fonts, and sub-reports into a single distributable file. This format ensures that reports retain their formatting and dependencies when shared between the i-net Designer and the reporting server.

In the construction and engineering sectors, users frequently encounter .bxp files associated with Bluebeam Revu. Here, the file typically serves as a Profile or Tool Chest export, storing custom markup settings, toolbars, and interface layouts. These are also often XML-based structures wrapped in a ZIP archive.

A third common variation is an accounting data export from BMD Business Software, used for transferring bookkeeping records.

Opaque Structure: Because .bxp is a proprietary container, you cannot double-click to view the contents without the specific host software installed.
